FINDING THE RIGHT LOCATION

Outdoor Living
It isn’t rare to see people basking on the beach and strolling along the promenades in short sleeves, as early in the year as March; when the last chills of winter disappear into sun-drenched spring days.

In fact, the Coast’s unrivalled climate enables residents to enjoy fine outdoor living all year round.

Of course, while it may seem illogical to incurable golfers, not everyone wants to play golf. And for them as well, the Costa del Sol is the ideal place to indulge their passions or try new pursuits

The extensive and varied sporting amenities range from the sedate (bowls, ten-pin bowling) and traditional (tennis, cricket) to the more active (water-skiing, horse-riding) and adventurous (rafting, ballooning). The Coast is also just two hours away from the snow pistes of one of Europe's leading ski resorts, Sierra Nevada, and is the perfect base from which to explore Málaga province's charming inland villages and, slightly further a field, Andalucían cities steeped in history and cultural diversity (Granada, Córdoba, Sevilla).

Those with a preference for more “popular” culture are also well catered for, from theme (wildlife, Sealife), amusement, water and even crocodile parks to vast shopping and leisure complexes.

Great Food
Wherever you go and whatever you do there will always, however, be one activity that unites everyone: eating. The Costa del Sol is not only renowned for its traditional and wholesome Mediterranean cuisine but also for an ample array of “international” gastronomy. So, after enjoying charcoal-cooked sardines on the beach at lunchtime, you can head to a Thai restaurant or Argentine grill in the evening - followed, of course, by partying at a nightclub or dancing at a piano bar into the early hours.

Easy Access
That just leaves the matter of getting to the Costa del Sol – and moving around.

Thanks to European Union cohesion funds (which, for Andalucía at least, will continue after 2006), the Coast's infrastructure is among the most sophisticated and advanced in Europe.

Málaga’s international airport is easily accessible from all points of the Coast (and only a two and a half hour flight away from the UK, with direct connections to most major cities); the dual system of coastal highway and toll way means motorists can drive between the Coast’s eastern and western ends without passing a traffic light; and Málagawill soon be linked to Spain’s high-velocity rail network.
